Update...
I have at last raked this bed to a fine tilth.
I have also dug the rest of this besd over but it will need some weeding at the raspberry end - convolvulus & couch grass:(
I have however cut down the raspberry plants in readiness for - deep breath - removing the ground cover.
I weeded and dug the seedbed frame in order to have some space for seed sowing. I might put a bag or two of manure and some topsoil in first, though...

Wow... May god bless your soil, it's crazy and hella cool you found what you love and share it... Kudos
I always smirk smuggly when anyone mentions "fine tilth" I'm afraid.
On my old lottie one day, a newbie friend of mine was admiring his handiwork, after rotavating his plot for hours, and was indignant to learn that there was further work required before he should sow seeds.
"What's wrong with that?" he demaded.
"That"... quipped I,.. "Is merely a tine filth".......
...Ah Well, I suppose you had to be there.
Cheers both of you!
Greenmantle - I only use the phrase 'fine tilth' in a tongue in cheek way myself. This is mainly lumps with the tops raked off to make it look presentable...
