What a generous council you have!!!
I have various compost bins including plastic ones-I suppose it depends on just how much space you have and how much compostable waste you have.
Thank you both for your comments - I'll bear them in mind. I really gravitate toward a wooden bin but as you say - they are free and it is very tempting.
Hi Mike,
In a recent Kitchen Garden mag (Dec 05, I think - maybe Jan 06) they did a test of loads of bins and the plastic ones our council offer came out well (Blackwall 330ltr). The only minor issues thay had were that any smaller (200ltr, etc.) didn't work as well and that the little access door at the bottom was next to useless - best just to lift the whole bin off the compost when done. I'd say go for it.
