Yes - you can throw that in
The main purpose of lining a bean trench is to have matter that will provide some food and also to keep moisture there. Something that the roots like to snuggle into. My first year I dug out a trench and threw in all kitchen waste and newspaper - and I had a fantastic crop. Last year - where I grew those beans, I used manure as a mulch but did not dig a trench, but did so in the new bean rows.
I am glad I did - because it proved that it was worth the trouble. The ones grown in a dug over manures and mulched bed were not very successful. I got a crop - late - but some were not as prolific and those that I grew in trenches.
