The door has blown off the small shed. As the roof is made of asbestos (I recently discovered) I wanted to be rid of it anyway but I am anxious about getting the top off safely. Posted by Picasa

Hi Mike - it's not a huge problem. Mask, papersuit, gloves and goggles should be enough as long as you keep it damped down and don't break it up.

Check this page from the LCC's site for disposal locations:

http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/environment/waste/hwrc/asbestos.asp

and check out your own council's site (I'm with South Rible: http://www.southribble.gov.uk/Env_Protection/asbestos.asp)

Hope this helps.

Hi HeyE (is that right?)
Many thanks for your comment - I can't even attempt a reply in Japanese! (Although if you follow the link on my blog to KT's Kitchen Garden you will see her blog is in Japanese.)

Your landscape photographs reminded me of one of my favourite landscape photographers - Shinzo Maeda. I have always loved his work and recognised some of the plants in your pictures as being the same as his. They seemed strangely familiar even though I have never been to Japan.

Thanks again for your comments, I'm glad you enjoy my blog,
All the best, Mike

Mike
I seriously need a photo fix - just to make me feel very inadequate with you and Head Burro. Any chance of some more soon?

Well I do need a bit of a kick to get me back to the allotment with everything else that's going on at the moment!

Your pictures of chickens by the way are very impressive and convey their characters beautifully!
