Ohhhhhhh - what a stunning shot! I love Robins (even though they are violent little buggers and as about as cute as Bull Mastif). Well done on rescuing him - you might find him hanging around you as you work a lot more now.
You're right about Robins - I've been reading an old book called "The Life of the Robin" and they certainly aren't anything like the traditional Christmas image. They're far more interesting...
(....however compared to the private life of the Dunnock Robins are little angels.)
Oh yes, Dunnocks are dirty little sods, alright :-D
Nicely put.
You two have obviously got your own little avian fight club thing going on here!!
I just wanted to add that I too think the robin pictures are stunning. And I'm also envious as anything that you not only got to see him really close up but picked him up! As a child I was always desperate for one of the sparrows on our street to come and sit on my hand a la Mary Poppins. Now I just think it's such a privilege if something wild chooses to hang around long enough that I get to see it at all!
I was amazed at how unafraid it seemed to be - quite a moment. I suppose the instinct not to struggle might have evolved to avoid injury - not what you'd expect though.
What else can I add Mike - absolutely enchanting.
