HI THERE MIKE IF I WAS YOU I WOULD PUT IN SOME SORT OF WEED CONTROL DOWN BEFORE I PUT SOME MORE STRAWBERRIES IN AND DONT FORGET THEY NEED A LOT OFF FOOD TO SEE THEM OVER THIS YEAR AND THEN NEXT YEAR IN SPRING YOU CAN FEED THEM WITH A BIT OF TOM FEED OK HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL TO YOU
Thanks Ray _ I will plant them though groundcover material to keep the weeds at bay. Thanks for your comment, All the best, Mike
Hi Mike, I have an allotment in Ireland http/www.organicgardening.com We took over an overgrown plot last year, there were a lot of strawberry plants all over the place. We put them all into one bed this year. They are all sorts of varieties! I am going to grow on from the runners being produced of the best tasting and cropping ones. There was black weed covering on the bed but it seemed to be harbouring bindweed and couch grass,so I pulled it up.I did not know they needed feeding?! I did try different blogs for advice but could not find any but this morning (wet and windy in Ireland) I seem to have found the motherload! So I am going to bookmark everything!
