I have not long had an allotment and wondered if you could tell me what the black cloth is you are using with the potatoes

The black cloth is groundcover material. You can get it from garden centres but I get it from 'Instore' which used to be 'Poundstretcher' as it is cheaper there than anywhere else. It will only last one season though. I hold it down with stainless steel hoops and lay bits of wood between the plants to stop it blowing up and damaging them.
