There was a peaceful scene this afternoon at Fairhaven as I went down to try out a new lens. Allotment news is thin on the ground at the moment as we've been under the weather a bit for the last few days but my first priority is to sort out the glass broken in the gales recently and plant the tulips.

Nice shot Mike - What lens did you get?
I'm upgrading to a Nikon D80 as soon as I've sold the damn house. So I've camera gear on the brain at the moment.

Hi greenmantle - the lens is the new Nikon VR 70-300 telephoto zoom. ( VR = vibration reduction. Nikon claim it makes the lens hand-holdable for an extra four stops!) I got the lens finally after an insurance claim for my old 70-300 which I smashed into little pieces earlier in the year. It is no longer available and the company supplied the new more expensive one instead when it became available! Good luck with selling the house and getting the D80!
All the best, Mike
Beautiful photo......! Respect!
You have been missed - nice to see your photos back - and congratulations on the new camera.
Bad weather has stopped any work for me up the lottie too.
Never mind - things will change at some point
Yhanks for keeping in touch as I type this the weather is considerably worse here. Still, it can't last forever....
That photo immediately brings a relaxing feeling. A nice way to start the new year!
Have you been tagged for posting 5 things we might not know about you? Yes, I've been tagged and I'm hoping you're willing to let me tag you. Thank you, Paula
Hi PG - thanks for your comment. As for the tag - I'll give it a go!!!
Another lovely photo Mike :-)
Thanks, Leone - I,ve just visited your blog and had a good look round. You've got some pretty impressive pictures yourself:)
Sorry "Leonie" Doh!:)
Thanks Mike! I'm still learning but really enjoying it. Can't wait 'till the spring, just think of all those flowers to photograph lol
Years of experience I bet! Do you think it is all down to camera or the way you use it - or is it that you see things that the majority don't see? Can you look at something and think wow that's going to really work well? Whatever it is I love looking at your photos!
Thanks for your comments! In my opinion the most important thing is to carry a camera around with me as much as possible so I am unconciously on the lookout for pictures. Then it's a matter of arranging things as effectively as possible. Nearly everything can be learned as long as you have that rush of impatience and excitement which tells you that here is a picture you must take!!!:)
All the best, Mike
I really like this blog - I am a journalist researching a piece on garden blogs, and was wondering whether i can get in touch with you to do a little interview? I write for the Independent on sunday in case you are worried I am a random person trying to sell you something etc.
