(actually I saw an interesting looking recipe for late-picked runner beans today involving podding, steaming and serving with herbs, salt, pepper and butter. Podding ageing runners beans is one of those things which has been floating around at the back of my mind for a while without ever taking shape - I 've picked a big bunch today so I'll be giving it a go!)
